Selecting Elements

Anytime you click on a dimension in the Add/Edit Task screen, the Select Element window will pop up. You will see a hierarchical display of the dimension, from which you can select any element.

Basic options in this window include:

Choosing an Alias as an alternative way to view your dimension elements.
Using Search to narrow down the element(s) you're looking for.
Navigating the hierarchy to select the element you're looking for.

Adding New Elements

To the right of the dimension hierarchy are two buttons that enable you to add a new element right from within DataMaestro. The first button allows you to add a new root element; the second button allows you to add an element as a child of another element.

Note: You can only add new elements to C elements (consolidations), not N elements (base level).

This is because creating a child of an N element has the potential of deleting all data associated with that element across all cubes. If you want to create a new consolidated element from an N element, you need to do so in the Planning Analytics administration environment.
