Whether you are creating a new Task or editing an existing one, the screen and its instructions are largely the same.
The steps to creating a Task are as follows:
Determine the type of Task you want to create (Copy, Move, Zero Out) by indicating the Task Type:
Copy processes data from a source location and saves it to a target location.
Move processes data from a source location, saves it to a target location and then zeroes out the source data.
Zero Out zeroes out data existing in a target location.
Note: Skip to Step 4 if you are performing a Zero Out process.
Select the Source Type for a Copy or Move Task Type. Source Type options include:
Single Cube - processes data from the defined source location from one cube to either another location within the same cube, another cube or a text file.
Multiple Cubes - processes data across all cubes that share specific dimension(s) that you select. For example, you can copy data from the Budget version to Q1 Forecast across all cubes in your database that include the version dimension.
Value - processes a specific numeric value you provide.
Choose the specific Source Data that you want to process into the target.
Choose the specific Target Location that you want to process into. Copy and Move target location options depend upon the Source Type you chose, and are described in either the Single Cube Processing – Selecting Source and Target article or the Multiple Cube Processing – Selecting Source and Target article.
The Target Location for a Zero Out process is described separately.
Click Quick Run if you want to run the Task immediately (only available on the Add Task screen).
Note: If you do a Quick Run without also saving the Task before leaving the Add Task screen, you will lose your Task setup.
Click Save if you want to save this Task for future use or include it in a Package. Click Save & Run if you want to immediately run the Task after saving it.
